Our Giving Program
Here at Buddy Pet Insurance, our aim is to make a positive difference in the Australian animal community, by helping both animals and the people who care for them. That's why we are committed to give $1 million to Australian animal welfare organisations and registered charities through our Giving Program. This funding helps support a variety of causes, including animal shelters, scholarship programs for aspiring vets and vet nurses, and research initiatives to improve animal wellbeing.

Who we support
WIRES
WIRES has been rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife across Australia since 1985. With a network of trained volunteers, they are able to respond to more than 190,000 calls for help every year to assist sick, injured and orphaned native animals and provide them with a second chance of life in the wild. WIRES leads the way in wildlife education, supports habitat restoration, and emergency response efforts, making them a vital force in the preservation of Australian wildlife.
WWF-Australia
WWF-Australia is a leading conservation organisation committed to restoring and regenerating our planet for all its inhabitants. From species conservation and habitat restoration to high-level advocacy, WWF is building a future where nature and people thrive. Buddy’s Giving Program will help enable WWF-Australia to support regenerative conservation and protect Australian wildlife, including koalas.
Vets Beyond Borders
Vets Beyond Borders (VBB) works to improve animal welfare by connecting volunteer vets and nurses with communities and organisations in need. Through its VetMatch program, VBB places skilled professionals with under-resourced veterinary clinics, shelters, and animal welfare programs – both in Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Their work builds local capacity, shares knowledge, and ultimately helps more animals receive the care they deserve.
Pets Of The Homeless
Pets Of The Homeless is a charity that helps keep vulnerable people and their beloved pets together through times of hardship. By recognising the deep emotional bond between people and their animals, Pets Of The Homeless provides essential support including pet food, supplies, veterinary care and safe shelter – all to help ensure this bond is never broken.
Sophie's Legacy
Sophie’s Legacy is a national charity dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing across the veterinary profession. Founded in memory of Dr. Sophie Putland, a passionate young vet, the organisation raises awareness of the challenges faced by veterinary professionals and drives cultural change to ensure all vets and vet nurses feel valued and supported. With Buddy's support, Sophie’s Legacy will continue pushing for change, reminding the world that kindness matters – in every waiting room, exam room and conversation.
Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia (VNCA)
The Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia (VNCA) is the national professional association for veterinary nurses and technologists. VNCA champions recognition, professionalism and wellbeing within the industry, while fostering a supportive community built on inclusiveness, integrity, innovation and inspiration. Buddy’s Giving Program partnership with VNCA will help strengthen advocacy, education and connection for veterinary nurses and technologists, ensuring their essential role in delivering quality animal care is supported and celebrated.
Australian Alliance for Animals
The Alliance for Animals is a national charity dedicated to improving the lives of animals through evidence-based advocacy, policy reform and research. By uniting leading animal protection groups, the Alliance works to create a stronger, more coordinated voice for the welfare of animals across Australia. Through the Buddy Giving Program, Buddy is supporting new research into Australians’ attitudes toward animal welfare – helping to build understanding, shape policy, and drive meaningful change for animals nationwide.
Animal Welfare League NSW
Animal Welfare League NSW (AWL NSW) has been caring for and protecting vulnerable animals for more than 65 years. Through sheltering, rehoming, community programs and veterinary services, AWL NSW works to improve the lives of pets and the people who love them. Buddy’s Giving Program helps fund AWL NSW’s Animal Care Truck visits to metropolitan communities, delivering essential veterinary care directly to pet owners who may be facing barriers to cost or veterinary access. From health checks and vaccinations to microchipping and preventative care, the service helps more pets receive the support they need to stay with their owners and lead healthy, happy lives.
The Wilderness Society
The Wilderness Society is one of Australia’s leading conservation organisations, dedicated to protecting the country’s wild places, native wildlife and natural ecosystems. For more than 50 years, the organisation has worked to safeguard forests, coastlines and critical habitats through research, community action and advocacy. Through Buddy’s Giving Program, Buddy is helping support conservation efforts that protect the habitats Australian wildlife depends on to survive and thrive.
PetRescue
PetRescue is Australia’s most trusted and successful pet adoption platform, connecting millions of pet lovers with thousands of rescue pets looking for homes. Since launching in 2004, PetRescue has helped connect over 1 million pets with new families while also supporting shelters, rescue groups, and councils across the country via their membership programs. Through Buddy’s Giving Program, PetRescue will deliver a series of research projects exploring key challenges facing the animal welfare sector, helping build the evidence needed to improve outcomes for pets, people, as well as the organisations and volunteers that support them.
